Death and Life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Proverbs 18:21
After being introduced to the consciousness research of Dr. David R. Hawkins, I became hyper-intentional about what I said about myself. No longer would I speak limits onto myself, nor would I allow them to be projected onto me by others.
The understanding is that our true essence is in spirit, only limited by that which we decide to hold in mind. Our true spiritual identity is timeless and divine in origin. Being divine, then, why would I subject myself to limitations like social anxiety or chronic pain?
In his book, Healing and Recovery, Dr. David R. Hawkins shares his mantra: “I am an infinite being, not subject to [insert limitation].”
This spiritual tool has been relevant since the beginning of time, but is particularly useful in this age of instant information. Social media and television are projecting limitations onto humanity each day.
Below are some commonly held beliefs that are of no value to us and are worth not being subject to:
“This disease runs in my family.”
“Nobody can succeed in this inflationary economy.”
“Men and women cannot have a loving connection in this era of feminism and womanisers.”
“People cannot have meaningful friendships in this social media era.”
“Liberals and conservatives cannot coexist with so much on the line.”
When we hold these beliefs as true in consciousness, they become self-fulfilling prophecies. For us, it is best to adopt a mindset of, “That may be true for other people, but that does not apply to me.”
To become what we aspire to, there is no value in holding limitations in mind. Let us own our true spiritual identity, which is unlimited by the false programming of our families and society.
Now, when I hear about the latest pathogen or “concerning” academic study, I do not fret; instantly, I internally affirm my unlimited spiritual identity and refuse to project the limitation onto my life.
If life and death are in the power of the tongue, let us decide to speak truth and power into our lives. Decide to own the unlimited spiritual identity that is intrinsic to existence and refuse to be limited by the false and negative entrapments of this world.
As you walk on your aspirational journey, do not subscribe to limiting beliefs and expectations that make success impossible. Understand that it is not God creating limits for us, but rather it is our own volitional choice for limitation that inhibits our peace, success, happiness, and fulfillment.
